Cabernet Franc 2022

$35.00

750mL. 13.5% ALC/VOL. Approximately 8 Standard drinks. Vegan. Contains minimal sulphites.

This vineyard in Sidona of the Macedon Ranges opened it’s doors under new direction for the first time since it was planted almost 30 years ago. We noticed a section of cabernet that didn’t look quite the same - A previously unrecognised planting of Cabernet Franc, some of only 0.2% of Australia’s planted grapevines.

In Bordeaux, Pat tried his hand of making wine for the first time, working with Franc and Merlot. The urge to work closer with this variety prompted the journey to establish Harbinger wines.

2 weeks on skins with gentle remontage twice daily to dryness, left on skins to integrate, then pressed to our best oak, including 23% new. Matured in barrel for 14 months and led to bottle with no filtration, fining or addition. An expressive, charming and warm-hearted wine that immediately welcomes.

Aromatics

Chocolate, Blackberry Jam, Coffee, Tobacco, Baking spices.

Palate

Muscular and leafy, Blackcurrant, Black forest, Rancio, soft tannin.
