We believe in every great wine region there are varietals that just fit,
harmonising with terroir;

Soil, climate, topography, culture, ideologies.

We diligently explore the great regions of Victoria’s boutique and premium growing regions in search of this synergy.

Drawing on the knowledge of local growers, farmers and winemakers, we first strive to understand why they do what they do, then how - Families deep rooted in winemaking and grape growing, people entirely motivated by the ultimate in quality and expression.

We bring our experience and understanding of varietals, explore the characteristics that personify the regions, and work side-by-side with land custodians to do the best we can by the fruits of their labour.

    Macedon Ranges

    This vineyard in Sidona of the Macedon Ranges opened its doors under new direction for the first time since it was planted almost 30 years ago. We noticed a section of Cabernet that didn’t look quite the same - A previously unrecognised planting of Cabernet Franc, some of only 0.2% of Australia’s planted grapevines. These 20 year old vines grow in the warmer North- Eastern quadrant of the region. Lean crops and small bunches thanks to the granitic sand and our famous cool nights.

    Heathcote

    Among the Harbinger wines you will find a strong European connection in both varieties and styles of wines. This reflects Pat’s experience in winemaking in Europe along with our combined love of overseas wine. Two of our Italian varieties; Fiano and Sangiovese are grown in the beautiful Kennedy vineyard in Colbinabbin, Heathcote. New plantings in the well-seasoned Cambrian soils of the Mt Camel Ranges grow beautifully in the hot climate, similar to that of Tuscany.

    The home of our Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir, a single vineyard located in Portarlington on the Bellarine Peninsula. The wines reflect the crisp ocean breeze and relaxed coastal attitude. A cool climate, dry grown vines on loamy sand lends to naturally low crop levels, and a mix of heritage clones gives great energy and complexity to these wines. Our vineyard is a tiny 2 acre block and grown exclusively for Harbinger Wines.

    The Pyrenees Ranges is a perfect location for growing bold, rich red wines with its dry warm days and cool nights, helping flavours ripen early and retain heaps of natural acid.

    The certified organic fruit sourced from Landsborough in Western Victoria is a staple every vintage for us, with exceptional fruit grown every year.
